BOARD MEETING SUMMARY: On the 10th of July the board held a meeting. Missing were the Secretary and the Treasurer. The board discussed the upcoming event at Ft. Tuthill. The board decided to have a table available to the membership to sell what extras that they have. The club also had some items that need to be sold also. The only requirement was to spend some time talking about the club and helping in selling some of the items. The other thing that was brought up was that Apache Junction is having a marathon next year and has asked for our help with the communications for the race. We have tabled this request until we can get more information and better dates and times. The meeting adjourned at 7:30 PM.
GENERAL MEETING SUMMARY: The general meeting was held on the 17th of July at 7:00 PM. Missing was the Secretary and the Treasurer. Diane Hoffman stood in for the treasurer and gave the treasurer report. The minutes of the meeting were in the Newsletter. Terry Cross NK7T gave a report on field day. It sounded like all that went had a great time. A report was given about the board meeting and was discussed what frequency that would be monitored at the Hamfest. All were informed that we would have a table at the Hamfest, and anyone could bring any thing they wanted to sell. The business part of the meeting was concluded at 7:30 PM. At this time is when Steve Simpple, KB7QHP, the speaker for the night talked about SKYWARN. This again was an excellent program. The speaker ended at 8:30 PM, at which time it was a coffee and doughnut break. The meeting was adjourned at 8:45 PM.
FT. TUTHILL HAMFEST: From our club every one had a great time, at least I did. The club made $250.00 for the repeater fund selling many different items. Also a couple of members brought their stuff and sold their items and gave a donation to the club. A new board of directors was elected in at the ARCA meeting. Art and Diane once again had a great time. We always had a fire at night. Friday night we needed one, but Saturday was much milder. The Flagstaff Astronomy Club provided many different telescopes for those that attended. We were all able to see the moon, mars and many other stars. The Arizona Near Space Research Launch a balloon on Saturday, which reached a height of over 85,000 feet. Their booth was next to ours.
The following club members were able to attend. Terry, NK7T, Myrna, KN7M, Ron, KD7FGY, Jim, KD7KUE, ART, W7ART, Diane, Mike, KB7RMG, Neil, K9ZSR, Steve, KJ7WK, Bob KG7QJ, Rick, K2DLZ, Dave Clark, S.T. Bonifante, WA6MVW and one other new ham to club, which bought his first handheld. I want to thank all the club members that had a chance to come up to the convention and stop to say hi at the SARC booth. We sure did make a lot of eyeball QSO's. Until next year when everyone can come up to the high country.
Ron McKee, Kd7FGY, program chairman for the Superstition ARC, announces the program for the next general meeting: Clift Bailey, WA7GBL, Sr. engineer from SRP, will talk on Surge Protection and Noise Mitigation.
September: Jim Pierce, N7QVW, will be asking for help with the MS150 bike ride. Also they will show a video on last years MS150 bike ride.
October: Jack Crabtree, AA0P, from the Arizona Near Space Research will show a video on the balloon that was launched at Ft. Tuthill and explain the whole event.
November: Annual Junque Auction. Bring all your treasures. Also this is election month. If you want to help the club let us know.
December: Holiday party, dinner and award ceremonies. No general meeting.
FROM THE PRESIDENT: The board and I have completed over half of our term as of now. We have represented the club at all the Hamfests and have been working hard in trying to upgrade our repeater system. We still have a lot to do for our Hamfest in December. I want to thank Ron, KD7FGY for all his help with the speakers for the meeting. Ed KB7RMO for chairing the Hamfest this year. And of course Ron, AC7MN for membership and the money keeper for the club.
If there is any one that would like to be a bigger part of the club and serve as an officer or director of the club, please let me know. Thank you all for your support, but we still have a lot of work to finish this year. Again thank you.
