BOARD MEETING SUMMARY:

The regularly scheduled December 10th board meeting was held in the classroom at RadioShack.com. The board meetings will be held here on the second Monday of each month until further notice. Present were: Mike Faschingbauer, Terry Cross, Myrna Cross, Larry Kuck, Ron McKee, Jim Minturn, Jim Lowe, Ed Cole, Ron Hedtke, Dianne Hoffman, Art Hoffman, Neil Leverance, and Bob Burleson.

Mike Faschingbauer, President, called the meeting to order at 6:30 pm. Since Jack Wilson is now silent key, we need a publicity chairman. The duties consist of supplying information about the SARC activities to any publication willing to publish news.

At the January 15 general meeting, Jim Pierce, N7QVW, (an officer in Arizona Repeater Association, which supports many activities needing ham radio services), will present an orientation for the support needed from SARC on January 20 at the first Annual Lost Dutchman Marathon, which will be on trails in and around the Superstition Mountains.

News from the ARCA meeting held during the Hamfest on December 1: is the ARCA website.

Everyone is asked to inform their elected representative that the use of special license plate numbers is needed because of the public service activities performed by ham radio operators.

One suggestion by ARCA is to ask each club supply a raffle prize for use during the Fort Tuthill conference. In this way it is likely the prizes would be attractive to other hams.

They might try assigning one job to each club during Fort Tuthill.

Neil Leverance gave a status report on the 147.12 repeater. There has enough damage caused by the rats, that the repair to the old equipment required the station to be turned off occasionally. Equipment will be installed with improved power capability, improved control, and rated for continuous duty.

There is interest in finding a source of jackets with the SARC logo.

Hamfest report:
The board decided the Hamfest was a success because of number of hams and vendors attending.  The preliminary financial review indicates SARC's treasury will receive more income than costs.  The board will recommend putting on the Hamfest in 2002. There are several improvements being considered.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:18 pm.

GENERAL MEETING SUMMARY:

SARC's ANNUAL CHRISTMAS PARTY. The annual Christmas party was held at Furrs Buffet on December 12. There were about 40 persons in attendance including families and out of town visitors. It was a pleasant occasion. Everyone won a door prize. Thanks to Dianne Hoffman for the arrangements.

Ron McKee, Kd7FGY, program chairman for the Superstition ARC, announces the program for the next general meeting:

Jim Pierce, N7QVW will nail down the final requirements for the Lost Dutchman Marathon.

February: Mr. Joe Rudy will be our speaker. Check out his Bio.

The following is what we can look forward to. See attached schedule. Ed Cole, KB7RMO and myself KB7RMG worked the MS150 bike ride. We all had a lot of fun. On Saturday we (about 200 bike riders and support) watched the sixth game of the World Series on the side of a tent. If you help out on any of the events, let me know so the rest of the club knows what we are doing.

Let Ed Cole, KB7RMO or Ron McKee KD7FGY know if you can help out with the Lost Dutchman Marathon. This event will be our event to put on as far as public service. We will need about 25 hams for this event.

The other events are with the Arizona Repeater Association (ARA).

KA7BGY Hangs it up after 15 Years

John Jacques, KG7FA volunteers to be Wednesday Net Control.

Jim Edwards, the longtime Wednesday night net control for the Superstition ARC called his last net on Wednesday, December 26, 2001. He has decided to spend more time in the house with his wife Elaine, whose health has been not good lately.

Jim deserves a BIG round of thanks for his fifteen years of dedicated service week in and week out as the club's Wednesday night net control.

John Jacques, KG7FA, who spent the Holidays in Pasadena, CA, when told of Jim's decision to step down immediately volunteered his services on Wednesday nights. John was in contact with the Valley via an Internet radio link between Los Angeles and Phoenix.
