November ADAW Column,
Arizona Science Center, W7ASC

The No-Code Tech class has started Oct 7th at MCC. We have 12 students enrolled and I am trying to keep up with the changes in the new question pool. The new "Ham Radio License Manual" seems to be better organized than the old "Now You're Talking". Some additional material. The new question pool has dropped a number of items. Remember the dozens of RF exposure charts? All those block diagrams? Schematic symbols? ...well, they are no longer on the test! Truth to tell, I'm keeping some of that stuff in the class (but not those RF charts). It's good to have a general overview on how a receiver and xmitter work and just what that squiggle with an arrow through it on a schematic really means!

October marks the start of Special Event and Public Service events. We have the School Club Roundup, the Scout's JOTA, "Tour de Farm", the MS-150, and Arizona Science Center's Hallopolooza Tuesday 10/31 5:00-8:00 with Halloween costumes and Ham Radio!

Volunteers are needed for W7ASC! Spread the word at your Ham Club. Call Bob at 480-961-1109 and volunteer now. A Volunteer sign-up page is available at www.w7asc.org
