December 2007 W7ASC Column

Skip, K7OAH, resigned as CARL President last month. Seems his "part time" job grew into a full time one over the holidays. So much for retirement, Skip! He will remain on the CARL Board and continue as W7ASC QSL manager. Looks like I get to move up from "vice" for a couple of months.

The W7ASC annual meeting will be Saturday January 26th at 9:30AM in the AZ Science Center boardroom "A". All active volunteers are invited. We will have a full agenda with a report on Ham Shack improvements from the Tech committee (Rick KA9KZB), and up-to-date information on the Ham Shack move from Stan Brower (AZ Science Center). The Ham Shack move is scheduled to start in March of 2008 and is planned to be completed by May of 2008. It is anticipated that there will be a 6 to 8 week down time for the shack. We will also cover the "indicators" for 2007, elect the Board of Directors for 2008, present awards, and more! Be sure to mark your calendar.

The next Tech License class starts Saturday February 23rd at MCC. Flyers are out at HRO and at the W7ASC station with detailed info. If you know someone that would like to get their Tech license have them give me a call, 480-961-1109.

And finally the monthly plea for more W7ASC volunteers. Currently we have about 45 active volunteers. Not enough to cover all of the shifts. We have several volunteers coming in twice and three times a week! Help prevent burn-out, spread the word at your Ham Club. Call Bob at 480-961-1109 and volunteer now. A Volunteer sign-up page is available at www.w7asc.org
