May 2009 W7ASC Column

Thanks to the West Valley club for their donation of MFJ code equipment to the W7ASC shack.  Needless to say those keys really get a work out and are in a constant state of repair!

Results are in for the Spring Tech class.  Seven out of 11 students took the Tech test 4/11 and passed!  Plus one that went on to pass his General!  All were sent off to HRO ;o)  Again thanks to Steve KJ7WK and his VE crew for administering the tests.  Congratulations to the following NEW HAMS:

  • Allan KF7BVG
  • Logan KF7BVH
  • Austin KF7BVI
  • Adam KF7BVJ
  • James KF7BVM
  • Dan KF7BVN
  • William KF7BVO [General]

The calls were entered 4/20 into the FCC data base.  Probably some delay due to Tax Day 4/15 ;o)  The General License class is scheduled to start at the AZ Science Center July 18th through to August 29th.  Give me a call or email if you are interested.

Rick, KA0KZB, is now out of the hospital but still at home.  If you would like to send him a card his home address is

And a final note we are still looking for W7ASC volunteers for the New Ham Shack.  The "Summer Hours" (10:00AM-3:00PM) start Saturday 5/23 through to Labor Day 9/7.  Spread the word at your Ham Club.  Call 480-961-1109 and volunteer now.  A Volunteer sign-up page is available at www.w7asc.org
