A correction to last month's W7ASC ADAW in the "getting the call sign right"
department: Steve (KY7W) and his AZ DESERT 10-10 VE crew administered the
Tech tests. I had inadvertently used Steve's old call. Also one of our
students William KF7BVO now has his Extra class license! The next General
Amateur License class will start Saturday, July 25th 2009, 10AM to 1:00PM at
the Arizona Science Center Boardroom "A" (600 E. Washington St, downtown
Phoenix). Give me a call or email if you are interested.
Our quarterly CARL BOD meeting is scheduled for Saturday 6/13. We have a
number of issues regarding fixing the Ham Shack, equipment upgrades,
"junque" disposal, etc. More on this next time.
ARRL Field Day is coming up! W7ASC and the Science Center plan to have a
"Special Event" for the last weekend in June. We are redesigning and
updating our W7ASC flyer (thanks to John KC7KML). Future special events will
include the School Roundup, "Kids Day," JOTA, etc. Recently some of the
volunteers went through the W7ASC storage boxes at the Science Center and
discovered several gems... and other stuff (aka "Junque"). We plan to have
a table at the December 5th Superstition Hamfest at MCC, don't miss it!
And a final note we are still looking for W7ASC volunteers for the New Ham
Shack. The "Summer Hours" (10:00AM-3:00PM) are in effect through to Labor
Day 9/7. Spread the word at your Ham Club. Call 480-961-1109 and volunteer
now. We have a CARL PPT Presentation available (operators are standing by)
that can be presented to your club. Contact me (see below) to set it up.
