Here are five pictures that show briefly what is inside the Stone Castle these days. These pictures were taken on September 1, 2008, and are courtesy of Brian, KC5CAY.
No details were given about what is what, but looking into the front door, we see what appears to be a floor-to-ceiling rack viewed from its side. The rack should contain the power supply, battery back-up system and such at the bottom, a pair of chassis for the two-meter receiver and transmitter, possibly the same description for the 440 repeater as well. The rack contains the receiver and transmitter for the 900 MHz link toward Phoenix, which ties this system in with the KC5CAY repeater at Sky Harbor Airport. There used to be a second 902.7125 MHz receiver, but that was removed, and a seoarate control link receiver will take its place.
In the lower right as you look in the door, may be the duplexer cabinet for the six-cavity duplexer for two meters. In a second picture of the rack, taking in the left wall, we see what may be the controller of the repeater system, the electronics that make the whole thing work, and that make the identifier and timeout messages.
On the wall to the right is the new electric panel added last year during a wiring upgrade, and the diplexer that serves as the VHF-UHF splitter for the receivers and as the VHF-UHF combiner for the transmitters, feeding the common antenna.
One of the pieces of equipment will be a 10 meter FM transceiver, which operates on 29.65 MHz simplex into a 10m groundplane up 20 feet on a pole adjacent to the Stone Castle.
After 30 years, however, no one has finished the painting of the walls. That paint job was started about circa 1982!
