Arizona Science Center's W7ASC News Archive for 2009
The Arizona Science Center, located in Phoenix, has a ham shack where volunteers come in and demonstrate amateur radio to the public.
You are encouraged to volunteer some time down there if you can. Please contact Bob Burleson, KG7QJ via the contact methods included in the latest issue of the Arizona Science Center column. The station is staffed by volunteers, and there is always a need for new volunteers in order to spread the good news about amateur radio to the kids and their parents and teachers.
The Arizona Science Center's amateur radio station, W7ASC, can often be heard on the 147.12 repeater, asking for contacts in order to demonstrate ham radio to schoolchildren on field trips through the museum.
The station is equipped to work amateur fast scan television (just like broadcast TV before the 2009 digital transition took place) and amateur satellites, along with the shortwave High-Frequency ham bands, as well as 2 meters and 440 MHz voice FM.
