2010 Meeting Program Schedule

Orion Thrower, KE7VLC is our Meeting Program Scheduler, and has contributed the following schedule for the next few months.  Please contact him by email if you have questions or suggestions or comments.

March

Next meeting is going to be March 16th at 7pm.....topic of discussion is going to be Batteries....What they are, how to care for them, how to charge them.

April

April Meeting April 20th at 7pm.....topic of discussion is going to be Automotive Black boxes and computers.....special topic is going to be ARRL.

I really don't know exactly how we are going to handle this, but we might have to put off our typical meeting to do this one...but we will see.

May

In May I am going to do an Elmer night....so I will need more questions that anyone might have. My address is Send email to Orion Thrower, KE7VLC so please send me questions, they will be anonymous so don't worry about how crazy sounding your questions might be.

June

I think in June I am going to see about getting someone to bring in a portable station and sorta hook it up as a demo and go over what is needed for a field day station or what will go into building a field day station.  I think we might also talk about the ARRL Field Day requirements or rules as well.

March 2010 Picnic and April activities

The Club picnic is March 21, so there won't be any activity for that month but we will be working on doing something in April. If anyone has any ideas as to what activities they would like to please let me know.

A look back in the past to a page off the Wayback Machine:

I have taken the source code from our page at www.qsl.net/wb7tjd/ in 2000 off of the Wayback Machine, and posted it below, making a few coding changes to make it appear as near to the original in appearance in Firefox as I could make it.  That may or may not work in Internet Explorer.

Lew McCoy, W1ICP SK

Lew McCoy, W1ICP passed away on July 31, 2000.  We were very fortunate to have him living in our community, and we had an opportunity to hrar him speak at our club meeting in November 1999.  As I edit this page to bring it up to date, I shall leave the following article about that November meeting as I had originally written it.

The club sends our condolences to Lew's family in their time of loss.

If you missed Lew McCoy, W1ICP at our November1999 meeting ....
You missed a good storyteller at work!  Lew gave us a history lesson on the development of antennas.  And told some wonderful stories of his experiences at ARRL Headquarters and the Turkish rug dealer across the street from the League Headquarters and the quad antennas he built ... all three things related to each other!

He told us stories of some of his inputs to FCC during the Nixon administration, when the FCC was looking for something each week to de-regulate.  And some wacky RFI in his home and some crazy TVI in a Massachussetts bar which was being blamed on an amateur radio operator but the FCC found the problem to be a bar patron's oscillating hearing aid!!!

We had 63 in attendance for the November 1999 meeting.
