Adding Email addresses to the site:
I use Mailto Obfuscator, a Windows program that runs well in Linux under Wine. It is free software.
Open mailto obfuscator.exe, then:
- Type in the email address@example.com that you want to encrypt in the top window, and watch the gibberish pile up in the bottom window.
- Hit Tab key and that highlights the bottom window.
- Now hit Ctrl-C to copy it to your clipboard, and then switch to your browser's edit window on the wiki. Do not close Mailto Obfuscator until you have finished pasting into your document if you are using Linux. Windows users may not have that issue to deal with, but then it is a Windows program running in its native environment.
- Place the cursor in the text where you want the email address to be inserted.
- Next hit Ctrl-V to paste the gibberish into the text
- Preview the page. You will see the email address in plain view.
To make a linked email address:
- Place a square bracket and the mailto: and a space and your desired link text and a closed bracket as follows: [mailto: email me for more info]
- Next, enter your email address into the top of Mailto Obfuscator and copy the bottom text to the clipboard.
- Back to your edited document, locate the cursor right after the colon of [mailto: and in front of the space before your link text.
- Paste the gibberish from the clipboard into your document.
- You end up with: [mailto:(gibberish) email me for more info]
During the preview, you will see your link as email me for more info.
